Information technology, telecommunications, media and life sciences
The Innocel Technology Park directs its offer to founders and start-up companies from the information technology, telecommunications, media and life sciences sectors including the area of medical technology. These are among the primary commercial sectors of the Wirtschaftsregion Südwest (southwestern economic region).
Innocel's activities aim to improve the attractiveness of the region as a location for companies from these sectors to expand and, in doing so, strengthen the economic development of the region. To support these objectives, Innocel holds numerous events for companies and the managers of local businesses in these sectors. These events include Connect Dreiländereck, the IT Forum of the e-Business Academy and the BioValley Forum. Innocel also initiates numerous projects focusing on topics like "School & Business" such as phaenovum – the Student Research Center of Lörrach and the Tri-border Region and the secondary school trainee program HauptschulTrainee.
Lörrach is an ideal location for companies from the life sciences sector: it combines the advantages of having an office within the European Union with the close proximity to large Swiss chemical and pharmaceutical companies.
Lörrach is, as are Basel, Colmar and Freiburg, part of the BioValley Initiative. Academic and public institutions as well as industrial organizations from France, Switzerland and Germany belong to this cross-border, trinational initiative. The BioValley Association promotes the cohesion of biotechnology and life sciences companies located on the Upper Rhine and promotes the area on a global scale.
The high concentration of companies from the IT, telecommunications, media and life sciences sectors including medical technology makes it highly likely that synergies will arise and open up huge opportunities for the future. After all, cooperative alliances provide fertile ground for the creation of innovative companies.
